Supported catalysts for induction-heated steam reforming of methane

Abstract Ni60Co40 nanoparticles supported on ?-Al2O3 capable of simultaneously catalysing the steam reforming reaction methane and supplying in-situ heat necessary to activate by induction heating, have been synthesized characterized. Energy is remotely promptly supplied an alternating radiofrequency magnetic field (induction heating system) that act as dissipating agents virtue their ferromagnetic properties. The temperature reached Ni–Co based catalyst surface high enough obtain good catalytic performances for (SMR). By varying synthesis conditions, samples with two different metal loading (17 wt% 30 wt%) particle size distribution were prepared Experimental results evidence related particles strongly affect ability convert externally applied radio frequency into heat. Catalyst pellets proved effectiveness reaching 720 °C during SMR 80% conversion.
